The child neurologists at 'Specially for Children evaluate and help treat children with medical conditions that affect the nervous system. The nervous system includes the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and muscles. Examples of conditions include cerebral palsy, autism, migraine, attention deficit disorder, epilepsy, meningitis, neuropathy, muscular dystrophy, and many others. Symptoms or problems that may require an evaluation by a child neurologist include headaches, learning or attention problems, speech and language problems, balance and coordination problems, weakness, or sensory problems.
The evaluation begins with a complete medical history and physical examination. Further tests may be necessary, which may include an MRI scan of the brain or spinal cord, an electroencephalogram (EEG), psychological tests, blood tests, or other laboratory tests. Evaluation by other specialists may be required for proper diagnosis and treatment, which may include neurosurgeons, eye doctors, genetics doctors, psychologists, speech and occupational therapists, and others.
The neurology clinic staff is dedicated to providing compassionate and state-of-the-art care for every child that visits our clinic. The child's primary care physician and other doctors will receive prompt and thorough feedback regarding results and treatment recommendations.
