Hematology Research

Hematology Research opportunities are expanding at Children's Hospital of Austin. Currently we are participating with groups investigating Hematologyissues such as ITP (Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura), Hemophilia and Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis. By participating with registries and studies internationally, physicians are able to combine and analyze data pertaining to certain Hematology issues. This allows them to learn more about the diseases and to formulate the best treatments

Histiocytosis

• HLH-94 - Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis
• LCH III Study 0 Treatment Protocol of The Third International Study for Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis

Neutropenia

• Severe Chronic Neutropenia (SCN) International Registry - Study to collect information on the natural cause of SCN and it's response to treatment with G-CSF (Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor) and other therapies

Idiopathic Thromboctopenia Purpura (ITP)

• Childhood ITP Study Group (Registry II) - Frequency, Severity and Timing of Major Hemorrhage in Children with Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura

Splenectomy Registry

• Prospective, multi-centerinternational study on behalf of the Intercontinental Childhood ITP Study Group
